The position of Director of Hispanic Ministry (HM) is a highly responsible position.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating pastoral ministry, advocacy and direct services for and with the Hispanic population of the diocese.
- Working with pastors and pastoral leadership in establishing formation, education and parish-based ministry.
- Ensuring that the vision and mission of Catholic Hispanic ministry in the United States as outlined in church documents are implemented in the diocese.
- Collaborating with pastoral leadership, diocesan offices, local communities, social service agencies and other organizations for advocacy and service to the Hispanic population.
- Lead Lay Leadership Coordinating Team. These lay leaders coordinate faith formation, retreats and leadership training at the diocesan and local parish level.
Qualifications include:
- Being practicing Catholic with background in Religious, Theological or Pastoral Studies. Must have a Bachelors degree at minimum. Master’s trained in Divinity, Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Ministry, Social Work or other relevant degree preferred. Open to considering a combination of education (Bachelor’s degree) and work experience.
- Being committed to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church and have a working knowledge of Church documents that address HM in the U.S.
- Must have a heart of service, a love of people and a willingness to be available whenever needed by the community.
- Must be able to work with a variety of personalities, viewpoints and to do so within a team structure. Flexibility and collaboration is essential.
- Experience in grant writing and strategic planning, preferred.
- Having excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish, and be comfortable in both cultures. Language proficiency will be tested.
- Having basic computer skills
- Being willing and able to travel recognizing nights and weekends work most efficiently with the Latino/a community.
