KANSAS CITY — The Kansas City Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will award $500 scholarships to four students from the Diocese who will be attending a Catholic high school during the upcoming school year.
“Last year was our first year to present the scholarships. We have been blessed to have the support of Bishop Finn who will make the presentation again this year” said Kurt Killen, AOH Scholarship Chairman.
Those interested in applying for the scholarship can find the application on-line at www.aohkc.org under the scholarship banner. The application is due by July 1. Applicants will be judged on community service, church involvement, scholastic achievement and the submission of an essay on a subject related to Irish history. The scholarships will be awarded Aug. 11.
The Ancient Order of Hibernians has a commitment to the serve the church, and one of the ways they fulfill this commitment is by helping local students attend a Catholic high school.
