Diocesan, religious order priests celebrate ordination anniversaries

KANSAS CITY — A festive dinner congratulated nine diocesan and religious order priests celebrating long-time service in the priesthood. Father Justin Hoye coordinated the dinner, held May 4 in the Cardinal Baum Room of the Catholic Center. Father Hoye said about 70 priests gathered to congratulate the Jubilarians and enjoy a steak dinner.

Diocesan Priests

70 years
Msgr. William Blacet, pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, ordained Dec. 21, 1946.
60 years
Father Pat Tobin, retired, ordained March 17, 1956.
40 years
Father John Schuele, retired, ordained June 18, 1976.
25 years
Father Joseph Cisetti, pastor St. Therese Parish-North, ordained June 1, 1991.

Religious Order Priests

Benedictine 50 years
Archbishop Jerome Hanus, Abbot Conception Abbey 1977 – 87, retired Archbishop of Dubuque, monk of Conception Abbey, ordained July 30, 1966.
Father Allan Stetz, pastor of St. Columba Parish, Conception Junction, and St. Joseph Parish, Parnell, ordained Jan. 7, 1966.

Redemptorist 50 years

Father Terrence (Terry) McCloskey, Associate, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, ordained June 22, 1966.
Father Patrick Power, St. Clement’s Health Center, Liguori, Mo., ordained June 22, 1966.
