What Does the Church Believe  about Mary and Why? presented by Pam Tyrrell.  Archbishop Fulton Sheen writes, “If Mary were the mother of any other man, then she could not also be our mother, because the ties of the flesh are too exclusive … Since Mary is the mother of God, then she can be the mother of everyone whom Christ redeemed. The key to understanding Mary is this: We do not start with Mary. We start with Christ, the Son of the Living God! …”

Pam Tyrrell, our presenter, holds a Masters in Theology from Ave Maria University.  She will explore Marian dogma in view of Christological heresies and the perception among many today that there is no need for a Redeemer.

She will explain how “Mary [properly understood in revelation] is the rock against which all Christological heresies break against.” The Nestorian heresy is a perfect example because in attempting to strip Mary of the title, “Mother of God,” Bishop Nestorius would have stripped Christ of his divinity or at the least separated his humanity and divinity into two separate persons.
