Fr. Emmanuel McCarthy is the foremost authority on Gospel Nonviolence and has conducted retreats around the world for nearly 50 years. He is a married priest of the Eastern Rite of the Catholic Church. Formerly a lawyer, university professor and the original founder/director of The Program for the Study and Practice of Nonviolent Conflict Resolution at the University of Notre Dame. For 27 yrs. he was associated with St. Gregory the Theologian Byzantine Melkite Catholic Seminary in Roslindale, MA, as spiritual director or acting rector. He was a co-founder of Pax Christi and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The miraculous healing of their two and a half year old daughter,Teresia Benedicta, was the Vatican approved miracle leading to the canonization of St. Edith Stein, St. Teresia Benedicta of the Cross.
