University of St. Mary Hunger Banquet

April 22, 2015

Glenn Prickett, a conservation expert with the Nature Conservancy and a senior fellow at the U.N. Foundation, will be the featured speaker at USM’s Hunger Banquet, 6 p.m., April 22, De Paul Library, University of Saint Mary main campus, 4100 South 4th Street, Leavenworth, Kan.

The banquet is open the public. Attendees should bring a can of food—preferably protein—for donation.

Prickett’s appearance is sponsored by USM’s Starr Global Studies Institute. As a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow, Prickett will spend the week at the University of Saint Mary providing varied learning experiences for Saint Mary students.

USM’s 2nd annual Hunger Banquet is sponsored by the USM Hunger Awareness Team, the Rotaract Club, and USM Campus Ministry. Attendees will learn about global and local hunger issues, and sustainability while being served a meal.
“The talk on sustainability is quite timely—considering we’re at a point in time when California is facing drought and the threat of desertification of climates around the world is impacting millions. We’re honored to have Mr. Prickett join us, and we’d like to encourage our political and business leaders to engage in a global conversation on sustainability,” said Dr. Karenbeth Zacharias, director of the Starr GSI at USM.
